ChainPort Facilitates USDC Transfer to Avalanche via CCTP

ChainPort Facilitates USDC Transfer to Avalanche via CCTP

tl;dr

  • ChainPort enables USDC transfer between Etehereum and Avalanche via the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP)
  • Using ChainPort and CCTP, USDC can be natively bridged between the chains, and more to come in the future
  • This integration expands bridging opportunities for USDC holders

Bridging USDC from Ethereum to Avalanche

The ChainPort team is excited to announce a significant milestone in cross-chain bridging as it enables porting USDC from Ethereum to Avalanche. ChainPort integrates the Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP), developed by Circle, to facilitate bridging of USDC to Avalanche. This achievement marks a major advancement in interoperability, providing users with seamless and secure cross-chain transfers of USDC assets.

Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol (CCTP) is an on-chain permissionless utility that burns native USDC on a source chain and mints native USDC on a destination chain. Developers can embed CCTP into their apps so that USDC can be transferred across chains capital-efficiently, setting the stage for a global Web3 industry. By leveraging CCTP, users can bridge USDC seamlessly and efficiently across networks, enabling broader accessibility and utilization of their digital assets.

With the integration of CCTP, ChainPort empowers users to bridge their USDC holdings from Ethereum to Avalanche, expanding the reach and potential of their assets. This integration eliminates the traditional complexities associated with cross-chain transfers and provides users with a streamlined and secure experience.

How It Works

Users can initiate the USDC bridging process through ChainPort's intuitive interface, selecting the source blockchain (e.g., Ethereum) and the destination blockchain (Avalanche). ChainPort utilizes CCTP to securely burn the USDC tokens on one blockchain while generating an equivalent amount of USDC on Avalanche.

Once the bridging process is completed, users will receive their USDC tokens on the Avalanche network, ready to be utilized within the growing Avalanche ecosystem.

It is important to note that both stablecoins USDC and USDC.e exist on the Avalanche blockchain. While USDC.e on Avalanche is a "bridged form of Ethereum USDC" that was bridged from Ethereum via the Avalanche Bridge, it is not officially supported by Circle. USDC.e is unusable on Circle APIs. USDC on the other hand is fully supported by Circle and bridging takes place via CCTP.

USDC bridged via ChainPort to Avalanche is labeled as USDC, as it is bridged using CCTP and is fully supported by Circle. The bridging process with ChainPort and CCTP takes only a few minutes as opposed to days with USDC.e.

It seems likely that USDC.e will likely be phased out and replaced with USDC on most Avalanche protocols in due time.

Expanding Opportunities for USDC Holders on Avalanche

By enabling USDC bridging to Avalanche, ChainPort opens up new porting possibilities for USDC holders. Additionally, ChainPort is one of the first bridges to enable support for USDC to Avalanche.

ChainPort offers a range of advantages for bridging USDC to Avalanche. With a security-centric approach, users can trust in the safety of their assets during the bridging process. Users can bridge their USDC to Avalanche with low fees without incurring significant costs. Additionally, the ChainPort platform offers quick bridging speeds, ensuring efficient and timely transactions.

Experience seamless and secure cross-chain bridging with ChainPort, unlocking new possibilities.

Avalanche is a blockchain platform that offers several key benefits to its users. Firstly, it boasts high scalability, with the ability to process thousands of transactions per second, making it suitable for demanding decentralized applications. Secondly, Avalanche ensures fast transaction finality, enabling near-instant settlement and confirmation. Additionally, the platform provides low transaction fees, making it cost-effective for users to engage with the network.
